Sir Andrew Motion talking to pupils from Globe Academy
The poem was facilitated by poet Sandra A. Agard from the 9th - 14 July. Students from the Globe Academy, Harris Academy Dulwich, Harris Academy Peckham, Walworth Academy and young people from Dulwich Library's Young poet workshop all contributed to writing the poem.
Read the first verse of the poem:
Changing pain to gain
From rags to fame
Aim high, reach up, touch the sky
Stand strong and be courageous
Dreaming is believing
For you have to believe to win
Follow your heart and start achieving
Push your body to the limit
Excellence is the key now open the door to success
Olympic fever is here! Come on let’s be the best!
Swift as a cougar
High as an eagle
In my sights – an Olympic Gold
A million tiny roars powers me
So many pumping hearts
I…we have come all this way to finish the race -
Prepare for lift off in 3,2,1…
MAKE IT BIG!
