Autohype Interview
“We’re Nikki, Mason, Martin, Edd and Seb, and together we’re Autohype!”. The excited Leicester-based band joined Whtvr after their amazing performance at this year’s Mix festival.
For our readers who aren’t that familiar with you,
can you describe yourselves in three words…
Seb:
Really really cool
Nikki: I am happy
Mason: Extremely good looking
Martin and Ed couldn’t
describe themselves. Luckily, Seb gave it a go…
Martin: Old computer geek (and really kind)
Ed: Spoon-chested
man
Tell us a bit about what you were doing
down at The Mix festival…
Seb: We
did a gig on the main stage, played a few tracks and we’re a band so that’s
what we do. It was pretty fun actually!
Mason: Yeah,
we thought it might not go down so well because the other acts are urban/grime
but it was all right.
Tell us about the band its
self, how did you get together and where did it all start?
Mason: A
few of us performed together and were in a few bands for a couple of years then
we all got together, started kicking around making a few tracks and since then
we’ve signed with a management company in Leicester. That’s how we got this gig
and we just travel around the country in this very poor excuse for a van!
So how does a band from Leicester get down
to south London
in Burgess Park?
Seb: Well we’re not quite sure
ourselves, our managers like the Delboy of managers.
It must have been a bit
nerve-wrecking coming down to South London to
an urban event with your skinny jeans…
Nikki: It
was a little bit nerve wrecking but we just went on stage with the attitude to
have fun and we’re proud. I think the crowd enjoyed it in the end.
How does it compare to other gigs you’ve
done?
Martin: It
was a really good stage and sound and the crowd looked liked they enjoyed it so
we’re all really happy with it.
Nikki: The
crowd was really big. We don’t usually play for that many but it was really fun
probably one of the best gigs we’ve done actually!
Can you describe your
sound for our readers who didn’t make it down to the mix festival?
Mason: We’re
electro pop with dancing beats.
What do Autohype have
planned for the future?
Band: We’ve got a business plan,
going to write a few more songs, get tighter on stage and the fans base up
higher
Seb: Yeah and by March 2010 we
should be ready to take over the world!
So where can your new found fans go to find
your music?
Martin: Our
band’s got Ditto, Facebook and Myspace, www.myspace.com/autohypeuk and you
can also buy our music on iTunes.
