Rigged gets under the skins of characters who are often represented only as yobbish stereotypes, telling the story of two people’s search for a sense of identity. Inspired by Sohoye’s work as a Learning Mentor in a North London school, it is a play written for and about young people.
Nathan and Sarah have the odds stacked
against them. They are heading in opposite directions. He spends his days
picking fights in the street or gambling in the arcades, while she wants to
continue her education and escape what she feels is a dead-end life. When Sarah
falls pregnant, both are faced with some tough decisions.
