A festival for youth

Some great news for youth in Southwark: this year we get our own festival on its own weekend!

It's called The Mix, August 17 is the date and right now planning is happening to make sure the festival has all the entertainment and activities we will enjoy.

It's a chance for young people in Southwark to show off talents and skills and to get a taste of the opportunities that are out there to develop new skills and interests. And it goes without saying that it's a chance to have loads of fun!

Right now we have the chance to have our say about what we want at the festival. There are two ways to do this: complete the online questionnaire and join the youth working group.

Online questionnaire

This will take only about a minute to complete. Vote for the activities and other entertainment that you most want to see at the festival. It's also a chance to win a set of two iPod/MP3 docking speakers. To have your say you must complete the questionnaire before May 29.

Vote now!

Young people's working group

If you fancy yourself a bit of a festival guru, why not join the working group? The group is first meeting on Thursday May 29 during half-term to brainstorm loads of ideas for the festival including who will be the headline performers. From there you can choose to get involved in different aspects of the planning such as auditions, interactive activities, marketing and event management.

We're looking for all kinds of young people aged 13 to 19, from all areas of Southwark. Are you keen? Come to the meeting at:

Bellenden Old School
165 Bellenden Road
Peckham SE15 4DG

Refreshments will be provided and we'lll refund your travel (as long as you keep your receipts).
