Speaker Box

Speaker Box is a voice for children looked after and care leavers.

Speaker Box aims to help make life better for children looked after and care leavers. Our specific aims are to

  • Inform young people of their rights

  • Encourage them to ask informed questions

  • Support them to develop and express their views, values and feelings

  • Enable them to make more informed decisions about their care and treatment

  • Support them to develop meaningful and trusting friendships

  • Have fun!

Some of the good things we’ve done

  • Developed the ‘10 golden rules’ for social workers

  • Won money through the youth opportunity fund to produce our South East Feast Cookery Book

  • Advised the national organisation responsible for inspecting social care about how to consult with other young people

  • Produce a regular newsletter for children looked after and care leavers

If you are looked after or a care leaver in Southwark you can join Speaker Box.
