Underage volunteers
Trading standards regularly use young volunteers to monitor the sale of age-restricted products such as cigarettes, alcohol and knives.
It involves going into shops to try to buy the various goods.
A trading standards officer is with you at all times. You can even do it with a friend.
Two recent volunteers on work experience from Notre Dame school have written a review of their day that gives an idea of the work involved. Find out what they got up to in their report 'A Day of Underage Sales' (107kb).
