A death in the family

How do you cope with the death of someone close to you? Read this article by Gabriel to see how he managed it.

I remember the first time someone I knew died. It was one of the hardest times of my life.

I was the only person at home at the time, so I had to take responsibility for letting everyone know about it.

The person who died was my uncle. He lived in Spain and funerals there are done the day after the death, so we had to pack our bags in a rush to get there on time.

Feeling

We all lose important people in our lives and we all really miss them when they are gone. I’m sure you have all lost someone important in your life at some point. I know how it feels.

But don’t worry. Life goes on. Even though it feels as though your life will never be the same again, it does get better!

“Everyone dies eventually.”

Laughing

I remember being really sad when my uncle died, but when I thought about the good memories I had of him it made me feel much better. One time, he got my mum thrown out of a restaurant because she was going to pay for the meal and he didn’t want her to. It made us laugh. Remembering that made me laugh, too.

Coping

So just remember, these things happen in life, and although you may feel sad, life goes on. Everyone dies eventually. Until we do we must enjoy our lives, which means we can’t let these things affect us too much.
