Body
Eating well and being active will help you feel great inside and look great outside. But sometimes it seems like there's new advice everyday. The only way to work your way through this mass of information is to go to people, services or websites that you know and trust.
If you're worried about your health, there are different ways to get help including from GPs, NHS direct and pharmacists. Remember that everyone has the right to confidential health advice, even if you are under 16 years old.
If you're feeling unwell or have questions on any health related issue, you can call NHS direct on 0845 4647 (24hr service).
Looking after yourself
One of the problems affecting young people in the UK is lack of exercise. Did you know 17% of boys and 16% of girls from the ages 12-15 are classed as overweight or obese? If you are under 18, your body needs 60 minutes of physical activity every day.
Get some good advice on how you can keep fit and healthy from Connexions Healthy living. You can also check out your local youth club and take up a sport activity. If you're not sure where your local youth club is or the activities available, just click on 'things to do' section.
Healthy Eating
As a teenager your body is changing really rapidly and as a result, your body needs more energy. Eating the right types of food is important to getting the amounts of energy your body needs - it's not a good idea to just eat foods that contain a lot of fat and sugar (fast foods). If you would like more advice about healthy eating and how your body works, visit Teen first for health by Great Osmond Street Hospital.
