Schoolwork

Cramming for exams can be hell. But is it worth it? Find out in this article by Lara.

Sometimes schoolwork can be really stressful. You feel as if the whole world is going on without you, or you don’t exist at all. Trust me, I’ve been there before.

First, the bad bits: sleepless nights, missing out on your favourite TV shows, poor diet. You also tend to get frustrated and at times moody.

Then the good bits: you can get the TV recorded. Plus, of course, better career prospects and the chance to earn more cash.

So you were probably aiming for an A, but you were graded a C and you feel disappointed. Or maybe you were aiming for a C and got an F. Whatever.

So much to do…

This takes me back to my Year 11 days. I had so much work to do in so little time. From maths coursework, to English literature write-ups, and don’t forget religious studies, citizenship, geography, which I always dreaded, science, Spanish, me llamo Lara, and so on.

I had my GCSEs coming up. I was so stressed out. I wasn’t expecting to fail because was in higher tiers in most of my subjects, but I was concerned about living up to expectations.

Cramming

Every night was revision night. I stayed up late, usually with the help of Nescafe, racking my brain or simply cramming all the info up in what little space I had left. Most of the time I’d fall asleep on my study table.

Then, the really good bit: I passed all my GCSEs, yes all, including PE, with flying colours. I had one of the top grades for my year group and went on to college.

Dream career

I did a lot more studying with a bit more fun and went on to University. Now I’m looking forward to becoming a graduate and starting a career that I’ve dreamed of all my life.

So, I promise you, the hard work is worth it. It could take some time for you to realise it, but you will in the end.
